CPA FORUM (04/13/09)

hi!.. for those na hindi nakaattend kagabi, and for those na gusto ireview or irecall ung forum.. eto n ung transcript ng forum nung apr.13.. kagabi yun.. hehe.. eto na ung mga pinaka importante na part ng forum...

Nagsimula kami s mga tanong nina albert...

albert: am.. sunday nagplano ko about the subjects and naicp ko n pagsunudsunudin ung amagkakarelated such as toa, prac1 and aud prob. mas ok b yun? or magumpisa ko sa mahirap hnggang dun s d maxado..
SirManny: my advice is tackle what you think you are weak on first this is part of my advice last time about knowing what you know and tackling those that you are weak at first and foremost give it more time so that you can balance things out when the exam is near well here's an advice I can give don't dwell on your losses too much while you are reviewing until its actual board it does not make sense to fret about it and think you are not capable but its normal
albert: kc di ko talga matanggap yung naging resulta ng mock board T_T
SirManny: its just the way we view things when we are really dying to get things done right we get frustrated but instead of getting to that mode strategize on it overcome it by putting your heart into the matter ask questions on the subject find a review buddy para may kabatuhan ka ng ideas pester your reviewee kapag di ka pa sure kailangan makulet ka sa review so you can get more from it and get your mind motivated so dont worry its normal to feel disappointed to those pre-board or mock board but tell yourself always you can get back and that is just a sign that you need to review more so strategy for you is get the hardest part first when I say that I mean deep dive learn it love it breath it
albert: i started to ask my self nga am i good enough?? then sabi ko no kulang pa i have to learn more
Lanie: sir sa katulad kong matagal nang graduate, applicable din b s akin yon, o i need to start all over again, to study from the beginning
SirManny: yours is good because balance ka i mean you should assume you start fresh you have to accept that you will have to re-learn what you already know the reason for that is the updates
Lanie: oo nga po
SirManny: but the basics are there naman i am sure you know most like financial statements preparation etc if you are working but to those like you dapat wag kang mahiya na iaccept its hard if you think you know it already then the tendency is to skip but the danger there are the updates today
SirManny: the review strategy na study the hardest to easiest applies to all it worked for me given that I have a very poor college foundation its the same if I did not get to the cpa board after 10 or 15 years

and then Sir Manny brought up a new topic which is also related to the previous discussion we had on our 2nd forum...

SirManny: today I will tackle on things such as getting organized and why it is important we will touch additionally on building up your confidence more and some pysche you can use to pass the board
SirManny: ok on my new topic today Getting Organized I have one story to tell that I hope will be an eye opener to all those who will take the board exams for the first time you know I almost did not take the board simply because of my name? here's what happened when I am registering sa PRC my school records did not match my birth certificate so they wont register me to the board exams to cure it i have to fix my school records to match my birth certificate and I have to redo everything from elementary to college in all schools that I attended with ONLY 3 WEEKS TO THE BOARD! so you know the big lesson there is I am not organized the first time I have not planned everything well and waited for the last minute to register sa PRC when I should have done it a little earlier desidido rin naman ako kumuha e in the end umabot ako but with all the pressures unnecesary at that time
SirManny:so you see at this point in your review ask yourself the question first are you set for the CPA board? is everything OK documentations etc my point is you will be harassed
SirManny: 2nd get your review sessions organized as well make sure you have a spot at home that you are comfortable to stay while reviewing you have to get rid of all the clutters get rid of things that are of no use to you at the review say you love watching tv go to a place in the house where you wont hear it at all when reviewing say you love music or the radio while reviewing, take them all out but if you can learn while listening to music then that's fine
SirManny : DISTRACTIONS you have to be very conscious of this you may not know it but it creeps in to your schedule you need to get yourself organized
albert : so dapat more focus and have adiscipline as well
SirManny: but if you will not prepare the things around you you will not be conscious about it you have to make a conscious effort to let yourself know that hey me, you are reviewing for the CPA board exams
SirManny: what are the suggested changes you need to do 1. get your review materials organized when you have a study plan, your review materials (books, handouts, notes etc) should be easily accessible avoid headaches of finding something amongst the rubble you will lose time precious time
SirManny: 2. get your place of review the holiest place in the house for the next 5 or 6 month get a study table and a comfy chair so that when its time to study you just sit there and do your thing when its time to stop you leave it there and relax then come back again don't get the habit of reviewing in almost every corner of the house like walking around or doing 2 things at the same time it doesnt work for me you can try but I dont suggest it i mean don't review while you are cooking or taking care of kids or cleaning the house you need mental concentration because you have to stuff your brain with a 4-year worth of materials in only 5 to 6 months imagine that in other words get a conducive place to study wherever it is in the house get your place and stick to it once you are a CPA na you will remember that part of the house and thank it.. hehehe
SirManny: 3. get other people in the house cooperate with you tell them dont mess up with your books or materials again the key is make it holy… hehehe why I am saying this is because you have to make a change in you within this period you have to change your mindset you have to change your psyche you have to change your approach in the study you have to be disciplined you have to beat procrastination you have to beat the CPA EXAMS!
albert: sir dun po ako nahihirapan kc parang my anghel at demon sa tabi ko tuwing magrereview...^^ ung isa go go go.... ung isa tma na yan
SirManny: meron din ako nyan dati ang suggestion ko wag mo pakinggan
SirManny: by the way I dont suggest you review pa mga 3 days before the board
SirManny: you have to get as much review materials as you can even from other centers it is important for you to get familiarity on the questions and how it will be solved so practice with those handouts and mock exams as much as you can wag mo na intindihin ang scores kung may mali ka e di let it be ah... practice lng ng practice and importante you recognize it and get used to solving problems or memorizing those you dont know
arvin: sir manny excuse me ulit... kung ndi b kayang kuhanin lhat, would you advice n mgmaster atleast 4 or 5 subjects pr mconditioned?
SirManny: i would not advice that in the first place when you shoot for that, you might end up failing I remember one of my former boss told me when you aim at a goal aim higher than what you want if you want the moon, shoot for the stars at least pag nalaglag ka, sa buwan pa rin ang bagsak mo same with the board exams the goal should be to top the board! that's how you should take it

hmmm.. my favorite part of the trip (DORA the Explorer?.. hehe).. este... the part of the forum which i would like to quote is:

"when you aim at a goal, aim higher than what you want.. if you want
the moon, shoot for the stars
"

ANNOUNCEMENT:

OUR NEXT FORUM WOULD BE ON THE 20TH OF APRIL, 2009.. 3PM TO 5PM.. SEE YAH GUYS...
